When the draw for the 2009 Confederations Cup took place a couple months ago, American soccer fans circled the date June 18. Why? One word: Brazil. It's just not every day you get to play against the team most consider the best team in the world. The U.S., which looked good for a half vs. Italy on Monday (and terrible for the other), probably needs to take at least a point against Kaka, Robinho & Co. Thursday in Pretoria, otherwise the final group stage on Sunday vs. Egypt will probably be rendered moot.
Action kicks off at 9:55 AM ET on ESPN2. We'll be live blogging shortly before then.

We need a World Class Coach!!!!!!! Enough with this clown!!!! We need some who knows tha Soccer is not just a Sport and you can't loose games like nothing! The US Soccer Federation thinks the world is only Mexico and Central america, Please in soccer, you represent a country, a culture, the people, this team is terrible, We don't Want this High School team Coach!! Only Donovan and Howard feel that passion for the team but that passion turns into frustration. Please Bradley, if you love Soccer and this country.. RESIGN NOW!! Just go back to coach in MLS!!! we need more Coby Jones, John Harks, Balboa, Agoos, Pope and not this High schoolers!!
PD. Dempsey...What a Clown, a real waist of player he thinks he is playing with kids in the park!!

Absolutely disgraceful! Landon looked the only one capable of world class soccer. Howard is getting shell-shocked by his own defense. It may be too late but a coaching change should be considered. Also it's time to start 'selecting out' some of the players. Goodbye Beasley and a few others. If we have to lose, let's do it with new faces who want to play and aren't too intimidated to fight for the ball. Can Alexi Lalas coach?

I noticed that the US team has developed a bad habit of chasing the ball. The intent of soccer is to go for the ball not after the ball. Going after the ball should only happen when you are intercepting a pass from your opponent. That is why good teams play touch passes and create movement by running into short open spaces. When the ball is in your possession you should be dictating the pace and where to meet the ball going forward that way you run less, spend less energy but maximize movement and possession.
Take for instance today's game. Did you notice that when Brazil has the ball the ball possessor has at least 2 pass options sometimes 3?
That way they get to conserve energy by moving to the ball and not after the ball.

the us team freaking sucks. dempsey needs to retire cuz he cant play for shit. and these espn broadcaster people piss me off all they do is make up excuses for the shitty us team. they need a new coach, one from europe or south america who knows the game and knows talent. the us needs talent. all they have is donovan and he doesn't really do much.

Beasley should never, ever play another game for the U.S. Altidore? He needs to learn how to be tough. Did you see him lose the ball today without a fight. Pathetic. This team is a sorry excuse for a "national" team. And while I'm at it, Harkes is terrible as an analyst. I love the idea of Lalas coaching this team instead of Robot Bob Bradley, whose team plays with as much passion as he has: zero. (I do think his son's a legitimate U.S. national team player/starter.) Clint Dempsey? Another fool. Showboat all the way. No substance. And now we'll get to listen to how impossible it is to win at Azteca against Mexico. I am so awfully disappointed in this team. What's worse is that I see no hope on the horizon.

Sunil doesn't have the gumption to fire Bradley. Please hire Juergen Klinsman. I am so sick of hearing the excuses. "We were tentative and got down to a great team." Please stop the BS. He needs to acknowledge that this is the worst team since before 1990. Bradley, stop the spin. We are not a soccer power, but we can play better than we have been playing. Bradley must go.
