By all accounts, the United States' run at the 2006 World Cup was an unmitigated disaster. If there was a lone bright spot, it came in the second group-stage match against Italy, where a scrappy U.S. side hung on for a 1-1 draw in a red-card plagued match in Kaiserslautern. Three years later, the two sides are at it again -- this time in the opening match of Group B play in the 2009 Confederations Cup in South Africa. Many of the participants from that match should see action on Monday, including the Azzurri's Danielle De Rossi, who famously elbowed U.S. forward Brian McBride, opening up a huge gash on the American's forehead.
McBride won't be in Pretoria, but maybe he can follow along in our live blog, which begins at 2:30 PM ET.

I'm never watching this team again until they get rid of donovan and dempsey.
they are just two hopelessly overrated, clueless attackers.
Dempsey got popular because he scored a goal in the WC a million years ago and has been coasting on his reputation as a "scorer" ever since.
Donovan was over-hyped from the whole "he's the face of US soccer" thing that he never showed he deserved.

and I forgot to mention the fact that a U-9 girls team could score multiple goals on our D the way they play right now.

Steve,
I'm sorry. If you think Donovan was somehow responsible for this loss, you have an agenda. He placed two perfect balls on the feet of Altidore and Bradley in the first half. He set up Davies perfectly on the last corner the US had, and he mucked it up good.
He certainly wastes too many set pieces, but he was fantastic today, and to criticize his play is insane

There's only one legitimate place I've found to watch it, the rest seem like scams :-/ You can see it over here though: http://vostuu.com/watch28015.html
They make you do a little survey but after that it's good to go :)

this is by far and away the worst team in all aspects of the game that we have ever fielded. It's no wonder that an american born player chose to play for his father's beloved Italy. Untill we get our stuff together, and to start cultivating the great athlete's we have in this country, we are lost. Instead of overpriced, underclassed, "youth development programs", we need to worry about how to get back to basics, and let the kids play. Seven year olds should not be "learning moves", they need to be playing more and having fun, developing naturally, and start tactics when they are older.

The problem is Bob Bradley, plain and simple. He continues to call back mediocre players back like beasley, dempsey, borstein to the national team; these guys do a lot of ball watching and dont think ahead what the next move should be(e.g. borstein gets caught ball watching just before he got that unnecessary yellow card ,check the video). As far as Jozy.. he needs to learn to finish if he wants to be the us striker of the future. There are better players out there right now,Bradley, use them.

Steve, What game were you watching. Donovan was the best US player on the field. If Altidore and Bradly do anything with the two gimmee goals he created, it's 3-0 at halftime. And Dempsey is solid. At least he's not afraid to take on a defender. But where was Torres. He was very steady 2 games back but was subbed out at half and hasn't been back. Is Bradly protecting his son? Finally, there must be a real striker somewhere in America. Bring back McBride.
