Apologies for the lack of good, old-fashioned American soccer action on FanHouse, ladies and mostly gentlemen. The MLS portion of the brain has been lit on fire, allowed to burn to the ground, and then the ashes are currently being mixed with gasoline for another go. Not trying to say there's things more important than loving this little-league-that-should, but sometimes life throws a lot of lemons your way and you just have to say "NOT NOW! I"M ON FIRE!" Lemon juice can't put out fires. Well, we guess it probably can, but that would involve slicing them open and being able to apply said relief with a flourish. Regardless, we digress. The Week 10 Power Rankings bring everyone up to speed as we try to distinguish between a number of teams separated by wafer thin margins in the standings.
The full table and considerably less Burning Man after the jump.
| #(LW) | Team | The Table |
|---|---|---|
| 1(-) |
![]() Chicago Fire |
Last Week: BYE Season: 6-2-1, 19 pts |
| They may be a point out of first, but the rested Fire have to be feeling good about having two games in hand. They still sit pretty at the top of the rankings with a top rated D and the league's second best offense. |
||
| 2(-) |
![]() New England Revolution |
Last Week: T 2-2 vs. DC United Season: 6-3-2, 20 pts |
| Right on their heels are the Revolution, quietly keeping some pace in the East. Drawing with DC raises some question marks. |
||
| 3(-) |
![]() Columbus Crew |
Last Week: L 0-2 at Chivas USA Season: 6-3-1, 19 pts |
| Columbus is starting to show some signs of weakness as they fail to get any kind of result against Chivas. |
||
| 4(5) |
![]() Toronto FC |
Last Week: W 2-0 vs LA Galaxy Season: 5-3-2, 14 pts |
| A decisive win over the 5th ranked Galaxy settles this debate. TFC jumps LA and is ready to do some damage out East. |
||
| 5(4) |
![]() LA Galaxy |
Last Week: L 0-2 at TFC Season: 4-4-2, 14 pts |
| The normally explosive Galaxy offense couldn't get anything going at BMO Field. They are thanking their expensive stars that they're 14 pts is plenty in the Western Conference. |
||
| 6(-) |
![]() Colorado Rapids |
Last Week: W 2-1 vs FC Dallas Season: 5-5-0, 15 pts |
| Dallas is still somewhat of a measuring stick for the conference, and Colorado's late victory over FCD definitely counts for something. Too bad they haven't shown enough to crack the top 5. |
||
| 7(10) |
CD Chivas USA |
Last Week: W 2-0 vs Columbus Season: 4-4-2, 14 pts |
| Fake Chivas jumps in the standings thanks to a good win over possibly equally fake Columbus. |
||
| 8(11) |
![]() Houston Dynamo |
Last Week: W 1-0 vs Red Bull New York Season: 3-3-5, 14 pts |
| Another table tie broken by a head-to-head victory. The Dynamo comeback continues, claiming New York as its latest victim |
||
| 9(8) |
![]() Red Bull New York |
Last Week: L 0-1 at Houston Season: 3-3-3, 14 pts |
| Still slumping, the Red Bull weren't able to turn it around at Robertson Stadium. With Jozy Altidore on his way out, the downward trend may continue. |
||
| 10(7) |
FC Dallas |
Last Week: L 1-2 at Colorado Season: 3-4-4, 13 pts |
| FCD pulls the flip-flop with Chivas and lands firmly in double-digit territory. |
||
| 11(13) |
Real Salt Lake |
Last Week: W 3-1 vs San Jose Season: 3-5-2, 11 pts |
| A favorite of the power rankings, RSL keeps building their fortress at Rice-Eccles Stadium, and while we've got them ranked 11th, we want to remind everyone that they're only 4 points behind the Rapids. |
||
| 12(9) |
Kansas City Wizards |
Last Week: BYE Season: 3-4-2, 11 pts |
| The Wizards had the week off, but we hardly noticed. Our other early favorite seems to be in free fall, watching the rest of the league improve (even DC) while they continue their road struggles. |
||
| 13(12) |
DC United |
Last Week: T 2-2 at New England Season: 3-7-1, 11 pts |
| DC is improving, but we still can't let them climb out of the basement that easily. |
||
| 14(-) |
![]() San Jose Earthquakes |
Last Week: L 1-3 at RSL Season: 2-6-1, 7 pts |
| However, said basement is firmly reserved for the 'Quakes. A tough match at the painted concrete of Utah keeps San Jose is last. |
