MLS Power Rankings: Week 9

After finally recovering from this weekend's trip to New York, we're back and somewhat rested to bring this week's MLS Power Rankings. The middle of the table is still anyone's guess as the the league still continues to resemble some kind of Double Stuff Oreo. The top and bottom of the table are firm, resolute, and in our opinion, absolutely delicious in their quality of play (or lack thereof). The creamy middle is still equally intriguing, however. Twist it apart and you just don't know which team will stick where. Dallas, New York, Colorado, and LA seem to be bounding between the ends of the table.

Find out where they land in the rankings after the jump. Milk optional.
#(LW) Team The Table
1(2)

Chicago Fire
Last Week: W 5-1 at New York Season: 6-2-1, 19 pts
The Fire are top of the league, and rightfully so after an absolute drubbing of Red Bull in Jersey.
2(3)

New England Revolution
Last Week: W 1-0 at Columbus Season: 6-2-1, 19 pts
Not the prettiest win over Columbus, but the late PK keeps the Revolution in the race.
3(1)

Columbus Crew
Last Week: L 0-1 vs New England Season: 6-2-1, 16 pts
An ugly loss in every sense of the word for the Crew. Not to dig up the turmoil any more, let's just say they need to put this game behind them.
4(6)

LA Galaxy
Last Week: W 3-1 vs Kansas City Season: 4-3-2, 14 pts
A good home win for the Galaxy as they keep their offense rolling. The Wizards were just this week's victim.
5(4)

Toronto FC
Last Week: L 2-3 at DC United Season: 4-3-2, 14 pts
TFC looked to be in control until United reignited its attack. Winning at RFK is still difficult, especially for a team in its second year.
6(5)

Colorado Rapids
Last Week: L 1-2 vs CD Chivas USA Season: 4-5-0, 12pts
Even losing to Chivas keeps the Rapids near the tops of the West.
7(9)

FC Dallas
Last Week: W 2-1 vs RSL Season: 3-3-4, 12 pts
The transition of FCD continues, but they get their first win since firing coach Steve Morrow. Still not enough to get them higher in the rankings.
8(7)

Red Bull
New York
Last Week: L 1-5 vs Chicago Season: 3-2-3, 12 pts
A devastating loss in front of the home fans. Red Bull has to be worried about the defensive breakdowns that led to this result.
9(8)

KC Wizards
Last Week: L 1-3 at LA Galaxy Season: 3-4-2, 11 pts
Their opening momentum all but gone now, the Wizards have to be getting home sick at this point.
10(12)

CD Chivas USA
Last Week: W 2-1 at Colorado Season: 3-4-2, 11 pts
A good win for Fake Chivas as they claw back into the Western race. The defense looks to be making the necessary improvements.
11(10)

Houston Dynamo
Last Week: L 1-2 at San Jose Season: 2-3-5, 11 pts
The Dynamo win lose the old San Jose/new San Jose mirror match against the 'Quakes, and they are still bound to double digit ranking purgatory until they string together some tougher victories.
12(13)

DC United
Last Week: W 3-2 vs Toronto FC Season: 3-7-0, 9 pts
DC is almost a respectable member of the vast middle of the table. The scrappy win over TFC could be the spark they need.
13(11)

Real Salt Lake
Last Week: L 1-2 at FC Dallas Season: 2-5-2, 8 pts
Our favorite underdog still has to work on its road form, but there's plenty of room in the West for a team with their unique home field advantage.
14(-)

San Jose Earthquakes
Last Week: W 2-1 vs Houston Season: 2-5-1, 7 pts
Finishing up the table, the Quakes keep climbing that hill.
