The USMNT's September friendly against Mexico in Azteca has been canceled. Frowny faces. But, US Soccer lined up a mildly interesting replacement:The U.S. Men's National Team will play host to a truly special match when No. 1 ranked Brazil comes to Chicago in the "Clash of Champions" on Sunday, September 9, marking the five-time World Champion's first-ever visit to the Windy City. Kickoff at Soldier Field is set for 3 p.m. CT, and the match will be broadcast live on ESPN2 and Univision. Those fearing a B-level Brazil side full of players you've never heard of but could still destroy the USA should have those fears assuaged; USSoccer.com makes it sound like a full-strength squad will be brought, as the game is over a FIFA-approved international break and Brazil is gearing up for the marathon South American qualifying process. Should be exciting; there might even be some USA fans at Soldier Field.

Uhm.....Isn't September 9th the first full Sunday of NFL games? So does anything that happens on that day,not named NFL, matter? Particularly Soccer? Seriously, whats the FanHouse fascination with Soccer?

I hope TIVO and DVR statistics count for something because that's the ONLY way I'm watching this game.
What a tragedy in scheduling...

I'm a Bears fan, but I'm going to be at this game because seeing Ronaldinho and Co. in action is far more appealing then some early season NFL games I can TIVO.

Well soccer finally comes to america. Brazil is a
treat to watch and our children should enjoy it if
the adults don't mess it up for them. They tried to ban my nephew because he kicked the ball too hard
but he really was better than their kid. Come to
think of it what haven't adults messed up?

To NFL fans: It is the world game!Get used to it! I guarantee the NLF audience that day will not surpass much beyond North America and a a few hundred thousand expats around the world.
But when Brazil plays, the world watches, and this game will be watched by billions. I travel the world and most of its children have never heard of the Chicagos Bears. But most of them in every continent, in every economic level, can name the all Brazilian national team players by name and would recognize Landon Donovan or David Beckam.
You Americans should be very proud that your National Team will be playing on the world stage with a chance to upset the Global Power in the World Sport!
Humbly,
Daniel Hickey

I think Fanhouse might've realised just how oblivious Americans are towards the rest of the world and the cultures that dwell about. I'd recommend you to begin paying attention to the sport called football (which actually requires maximum footwork and not so much chunky's chiken soup).
The NFL is about the most ludacris sport ever watched. The ideology behind the game is simply stupifying, but that's typical of any american sport, except may be baseball.
Anyway, for all you chaps that love 2 minute intervals during 'tackleball' matches to observe more insurance quotes, you're terribly wasting your time. This country certainly lacks footballing history, but it's never to late to start..and the european invasion has already begun;)
